How does a ball valve work?
Ball valve
A ball valve is a stopcock with a compression connection for temporarily shutting off the water supply at local level. To shut off the water supply completely, the main tap must be turned off.
This stopcock is closed by a chrome-plated ball, enclosed in a seal made of pure Teflon. The plastic-coated handle ensures easy operation.
It is possible to place a drain valve on the stop cock to drain the remaining water in the pipe. If this is not used, a plug 1/4 ”can be mounted in the tapped hole.
Also install stopcocks in places where the water pipe can freeze in winter. Freezing of the pipes can be prevented by means of local draining.
A ball valve partially or completely shuts off the flow of a liquid or gas. This is done by means of a hollow perforated sphere (ball). The liquid or gas can flow through the hole in the ball when the handle is properly turned. Because the ball valve can be completely closed or opened with a short quarter turn, it is a quick and easy to operate valve. These ball valves are also referred to as an L-bore, because of the shape of the bore in the ball.
3-way ball valve
Four options are available for ball valves with a T-bore. The connection can be completely closed, both sides can have flow or one of the two sides. This means there is less margin for errors because the crane must be positioned perfectly at 45 degrees.
